Muslim Americans in the Midwest
My MA thesis on the Muslim Community in Columbus, Ohio explored the local and transnational influences that shaped the community building efforts of central Ohio’s Muslim immigrants from the 1960s to the present. In it I argued that Muslim Americans’ national and ethnic diversity was a central theme in efforts to organize the Muslim community, constituting both an asset and a challenge as they attempted to define themselves as Muslims and as Americans.
